The price tag on a Noble will cost you about $65000 - $100000. Anyone up for making a kit car? I bet it would fit on a 90's mr2 frame. In the meantime they come up on eBay and here is what's on eBay right now:

The PT Cruiser, Chrysler's succesful attempt at being the retro look back to cars(quick to be a successor after VW's great success), brought about a swarm of people wanting to give their classic wagon an even more custom retro look with kits and parts.

I too were among these few, and love the overall design of the PT Cruiser. I hoped for some interesting kits to come out and a few years back I came across the PTeaser Roadster, a custom truck/wagon convertible.

They took what I envisioned in my mind as the best, most radical kit car one could make and brought it to life.

Although they don't provide the complete kit, you can get the hood and the grille, for a reasonable price of $975 or $1555, respectively. Get more info at PTeazer.

Here is my list of the best "base cars" - the cars we like to use to hide beneath our luxury car. Counting down:

5. Base Car? - Many great kit cars are built from the ground up. When you want to go all out start with nothing, but make sure you have some welding, engineering, design skills and a heck of a lot of patience.

4. Civic - The Honda Civic is one of the best selling cars of all time, and buying a pre-95 vehicle can prove a good investment as a base car. Both zippy, easy to customize, and a large fanbase it can be a great car to get what you need done.

3. Pontiac GTO - lower 90's - 00 - Getting a fast base car under the hood is a good idea if you are sporting something like a Ferrari or Lamborghini base kit. Best known for its use with the Dodge Viper kit car, it's both fast and has a fashionable factory interior.

2. VW Bug (original) - The car that started customizing and the car kit phenomenon. Easy to customize, super easy to troubleshoot, maintain, fix, and modify this is a great kit car with tons of kits out on the market. It's also an easy car to create your own kit on.

1. Fiero - Probably the number one kit car for a newer generation, this car is well known for having a similar base frame to more expensive sportier cars. With many lamborghini, ferrari and just crazy custom kits, the Fiero provides a good base kit for beginners.
